California to Allow e-file to Remain Open for Taxpayers Affected by Recent Disasters

California is following the IRS in extending e-file availability to October 31, 2011, for taxpayers affected by recent disasters. The extension grants added time to e-file for those taxpayers affected by Hurricane Irene, Tropical Storm Irene, Tropical Storm Lee, and the Texas wildfires. Please see the IRS news article at http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=246780,00.html for specific details.

Those taxpayers or their representatives utilizing a software provider will need to follow their software’s instructions for how to include the disaster information on their return.
